How Invisalign Works
In contrast to metal braces, Invisalign straightens teeth with clear aligning trays. You wear a series of these “aligners” to move each tooth into an aligned position. By the end of treatment, you’ll have the straight and beautiful smile of your dreams!
Of course, there are rules regarding Invisalign aligners. Each set in the series must be worn 20-22 hours daily for two weeks at a time. Otherwise, you’ll face treatment delays or even lose previous progress.
The Benefits of Invisalign
In truth, Invisalign is highly popular among adults and teens for its perks. These advantages include:
- Near-Invisibility: Being made of clear plastic, aligners are hardly noticeable. They won’t have negative effects on your looks.
- Removability: Aligners aren’t bonded to your teeth like metal braces. Therefore, you can remove them for meals and for cleaning your teeth.
- Enhanced Comfort: Invisalign trays use a smooth plastic that’s gentler on the gums than metal braces.
- Shorter Treatment Time: On average, Invisalign in Yukon takes less time to work than traditional metal braces.
Understanding the Cost of Invisalign
If you would like an estimate of the cost of your Invisalign treatment, then the best thing to do is schedule a consultation with one of our dedicated dentists in Oklahoma City. If, on the other hand, you want to learn more general information about the price before scheduling an appointment, then simply read on!
Factors That Affect the Cost of Invisalign
Simply put, there isn’t just one factor that impacts the price of your treatment. In order to create your treatment plan, we need to consider everything from the severity of your case to whether we need to straighten one or both arches of your teeth. This will impact both the number of aligners needed and if additional accessories are required, like rubber bands. Don’t worry – we will discuss all of these factors and more during your consultation so you have an estimate of the cost and an understanding of how we got to that number.
Invisalign vs. Smile Direct Club™: Which Costs More?
Mail-order clear aligner companies often focus their marketing around the lower upfront cost. What they don’t mention is how they are able to make their treatment so much cheaper. The short answer is that they cut corners by skipping the initial consultation and relying on DIY impressions. Those are just a few of the many reasons patients have experienced worsened misalignment, have had their teeth fall out, and, ultimately, have chosen to pursue legal action. In short, although the lower upfront cost may seem enticing, it’s best to choose an orthodontic treatment that is reliable, safe, and backed by professional organizations, like the American Dental Association.
Does Dental Insurance Cover Invisalign?
Not always. However, there are a few exceptions, including if your provider considers your orthodontic treatment “medically necessary.” If you aren’t familiar with your benefits, it’s a good idea to read through the fine print on your plan, call the helpline on your paperwork to talk to a representative, or ask our team for help. Since we’re in-network with many PPO dental insurance plans, we can help you navigate the ins and outs of your coverage. Plus, we can file the paperwork on your behalf to make the process of utilizing your benefits easier too!
Options for Making Invisalign Affordable
Of course, dental insurance is just one of several financial solutions we offer. CareCredit is one of the most popular options because their payment plans allow you to space-out the cost into manageable chunks. We also have our very own dental health savings plan, which gives you access to benefits like 10% off all orthodontic devices! If you would like more details on either of these options, let us know – we’re here to help make navigating the financial side of clear aligner treatment stress-free.

How Long Does Invisalign Take?
The average treatment time with Invisalign is 12 months. However, some patients need their aligners for as few as six months, while others have to use them for 18 months or longer. The extent of your dental misalignment will be the biggest factor in determining how long it takes for you to achieve your new smile. During your consultation, we may be able to estimate the completion date of your Invisalign course.
We will also give you tips to help you avoid unnecessary delays. For example, we will encourage you to wear your aligners as much as directed and protect them from damage.
Does Invisalign Hurt?
Invisalign aligners are made out of a smooth plastic material that is designed to be as comfortable as possible in the mouth. They have no metal parts to irritate your cheeks or tongue.
However, it is important to remember that orthodontic treatment works by applying pressure to the teeth. Naturally, this can cause some soreness, which tends to be greatest when you first start wearing an aligner. Sipping cool water and taking pain relievers as necessary can reduce your discomfort. It is also advisable to switch to a new aligner at night so you can sleep through the first part of the adjustment period.
What Happens After Invisalign?
After you complete your Invisalign course, we will verify that your results are satisfactory. Then, we will give you a retainer. Its job will be to prevent your teeth from drifting back out of place. At first, you should wear the retainer as close to 24/7 as possible — just like you did with your aligners. Eventually, you may need to use it just a few nights each week. With proper maintenance, your Invisalign results will have the potential to last a lifetime.
What if My Invisalign Broke?
If you see small hairline fractures in one of your aligners, you might be able to continue using it. You just need to be extra careful when taking it in and out of your mouth. If the damage is more serious, call our office. We might tell you to go back to using a previous aligner until we can order a replacement for the one that is no longer usable. Or, we might tell you to move onto your next aligner a few days early.
